After working as a public educator in Frederick County, VA for over thirty years, retirement arrived in the form of a new home in Murrells Inlet, SC. For the past three years the coastal low country and all the beautiful birds, marshes, and ocean sunrises have offered material for photography and watercolor. It is also a mecca of artists ready to share their talent and expertise. We now also have a home at Lake of the Woods and split our time between LOW and South Carolina.
Although watercolor is my favored medium, I took many classes offered for adults like Gullah grass baskets making and immediately learned why the baskets are so expensive! One of the many classes offered was one in alcohol ink. I was immediately smitten by the freedom and creativity one can experience and have given classes to my fellow artists just so they can experience that freedom of creativity. The artwork shown below are abstracts using alcohol inks.
