Whether serving as the family photographer, seeking out opportunities to create images during her travels, or experimenting with different types of cameras and photographic techniques, Jen has been an active and enthusiastic photographer throughout her life.
As a hobbyist photographer, Jen has spent countless hours, particularly since 2010, taking classes and workshops and participating in photo clubs to expand her knowledge and to spend time with - and learn from - other photographers. While living in Maryland, she participated in several photo clubs and had images selected for photography exhibits put on by the Digital Photography Club of Annapolis and the Maryland Photography Alliance. In 2015, she was invited by The River Gallery in Galesville to collaborate with Carol Wetovich, an accomplished watercolorist, on an exhibit entitled “Cuba: Through Lens and Brush” featuring Jen’s photography and Carol’s paintings. Soon after that, Jen was invited to do a solo exhibit of photographs from Cuba entitled "Cuba Today" at the Meadowood CCRC Gallery in Lansdale, PA. She’s also had photos selected by the Alliance of the Chesapeake for their calendars in 2017 and 2020.
She joined the Muddy Creek Artist Guild in Southern Anne Arundel County in 2012 and participated in 18 Muddy Creek art shows between 2013 and 2019. She served terms as the webmaster, secretary, and president of the Guild. She was inspired every day by her fellow artists who were working in a wide variety of art media.
Jen moved to Lake of the Woods (LOW) in 2019 and became involved with the LOW Photo Club, and with the LOW Visual Arts Council (LOWVAC) in the planning of the 2019 art show. In 2020, she became the first president of the new LOW Arts club, which, despite a challenging start due to COVID, is now a thriving club with an ever-expanding membership and many opportunities for artists to exhibit and learn from one another.
