Cyndi Steele is originally from Newton Highlands and Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts. She also lived in Bedford, New Hampshire and then in Southern California, where she met her husband Joe Steele. Cyndi and Joe moved to Virginia in 2006 to Charlottesville to help her aging mother and then to Fishersville in the Shenandoah Valley. February of 2016 she and Joe moved to Lake of the Woods to be closer to their son and his family who live in Fredericksburg.
Cyndi's love for art started when she was young. In college she majored in Interior Design and was blessed with many art classes. In the evenings you could find her relaxing on the floor drawing portraits with pencil graphite or pastels. Some of her pictures were taken from photos of friends or movie stars.
Pastel chalk, oil, acrylic, watercolor and graphite are what she enjoys using for her pictures. Her favorite subjects are children and people of different ages. She also has painted landscapes with barns and lighthouses. One watercolor is of her Mother’s home in Charlottesville.
In the past, working from photos, she has done commissioned graphite drawings and oil paintings of children.
This September she is looking forward to the LOW Art Show. Her husband Joe will also participate, displaying a few of his graphite drawings. He has also dabbled in sculpture.
